Medicare is a A fee-for-service health insurance program that has 2 parts: Part A and Part B. It is for people 65 or older. People may also be eligible for Medicare if they have a disability, End-Stage Renal Disease. (ESRD), or ALS (also called Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Medicare covers you for inpatient hospital care(Part A) and outpatient medically necessary care (Part B) but it does not pay for evertything. There is cost sharing with the government's plan. Also, there’s no limit on what you’ll pay out-of-pocket unless you have other coverage (like Medigap, Medicaid, employer, retiree, or union coverage).
The Mini Book on Medicare was created to help you get started.
